How to Root Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean


Recently Samsung officially updated Galaxy Ace 2 to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Firmware build number I8160XXMF2, which is the international variant of Galaxy Ace 2. Most of you would have updated their devices via the OTA or Samsung Kies manually. For those of you, who has already updated their device and running the XXMF2 Firmware, then follow the step by step tutorial below, to safely and successfully gain root access and get started to start flashing Custom ROMs.

Guidelines and Requirements:

  1. I already has stated that, this root guide is only for Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXMF2 Firmware. Go to Settings> About Phone and double check that you’re having the same specs otherwise it won’t work and you may brick your device.
  2. Rooting your Android phone will always voids its warranty.
  3. Enable USB Debugging by going to Settings> Developers Options.
  4. Before proceeding for the process, just make sure that you’ve got enough battery charge on your device.
  5. Last but not the least, proceed at your own risk.

How to – Rooting Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 on Official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXMF2 Firmware


Step 1. First of all, Download Root.zip root exploit for Galaxy Ace 2.
Step 2. Next, Connect your phone via USB Cable to PC and Copy the root.zip file to your internal/external sd card.
Step 3. Disconnect your phone and Reboot it into Recovery Mode by Pressing and Holding the Volume Up + Home + Power keys simultaneously for a few seconds.

Step 4. You’ll be using the Volume Up/Down buttons to Navigate between options, while use the Power button to Select your desire option.

Step 5. Choose the Apply Update option and navigate to the storage directory where you’ve placed the root.zip and confirm to flash it.

Step 6. Wait for a few seconds and it will give you notification that it has successfully been flushed or updated.
Step 7. Finally return to main stock recovery menu and Reboot your phone using the Reboot System Now option.

Congrats!! You have now successfully rooted your Galaxy Ace 2, you can verify root access by installing ‘Root Checker‘ App from Google Play Store.
